Welcome! I’m Tricia, the creative voice behind maerinette. Originally from NC, I moved to NM in 2017 where I spent a couple of years falling in love with the desert & really began to feed my creative hunger in earnest. Back in NC, I worked many retail jobs & occasionally created window displays for local shops but hadn’t had the courage to pursue art for a living. I found a new way of life & surrounded myself with artists in Albuquerque...this website is a reflection of my creative spirit & endeavors.
In February of 2019, I headed for the west coast with my mom to spend a year exploring & participating in artisan markets there. Most of my time was spent in CA, with small journeys into AZ & OR. Back in NM now, the landscape of my life & perspective have forever been changed by these explorations. My work continues to evolve. I am inspired daily by the rugged terrain & breathtaking sunsets of the desert & the fierce spirit of the creative voices around me.
My brand identity borrows snippets from the names of the three women who have always believed in me & allowed me the freedom & space to become (& continue to become) the artist I am today. My grandmothers Ethel Mae & Catherine & my mom Paulette. My work is my tribute to them. My hope is always to live up to their belief in me.
Thank you for visiting my shop & taking time to read about my journey. I hope my work inspires you. I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
